Kolkata, India – The eerie quiet of a midnight train ride sets the tone in Shesh Sealdah Local, a horror mystery thriller that premiered on YouTube on June 1, 2025. Written and directed by Sinjan Mukherjee, this chilling tale explores what happens when a routine commute turns into a night of unexpected revelations.
Set almost entirely inside a local train departing from Sealdah station, the story follows Partha, a man returning home on the last local train. As he encounters a mysterious stranger, secrets unravel, lives shift, and nothing remains the same by dawn.
Starring Ankit Lodh Roy and Debojyoti Roy in lead roles, Shesh Sealdah Local is a compact yet impactful journey into fear, fate, and human connection.
The film features a haunting background score by Priyam Mandal, soulful vocals by Debjit Dey, and an atmospheric musical composition on piano and guitar by Srijita Chakrabarti and Subhojit Roy, with lyrics penned by the independent music band Roktosur. The cinematography by Anupam Das, along with additional visuals by Soham Chatterjee, captures the raw tension of the dimly-lit local train at night.
Editing was handled by the director himself, Sinjan Mukherjee, while Debojyoti Roy served as the Creative Director. Special thanks go to Agnish Das and Soham Chatterjee for their support during the production.
> "It was a fun and adventurous film to shoot for the whole crew—especially because we had to shoot inside a train, and that too from 11:50 PM to 4 AM!" shares director Sinjan Mukherjee. "It took us four days to complete filming, including reshoots, but the energy and spirit of the team kept us going."
